Slender loris

The slender loris, a primate species so rarely seen that scientists thought it had been extinct for 60 years, has been photographed for the first time. The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) said in a statement on Monday that a Horton Plains slender loris with wide eyes and short limbs had been caught on camera by ZSL and Sri Lankan researchers, who surveyed forest patches for more than 200 hours. The small primate was pictured on a forest branch in a mountain forest in central Sri Lanka. (Handout/Zoological Society of London/AP )
