Parrots Make a Great Show

If you want an exotic bird that can perform, such as talking, riding a bike, skateboarding, roller skating, doing tricks on a trapeze or trampoline, etc. you will need to make the right choice in breed. Exotic bird have personalities and instincts specific to their kind.


Of the various species of Parrots, the African Grey is one most well-known for its speaking qualities. It has earned two nicknames; "The perfect mix of brains and beauty" and "The Cadillac of Parrots." This parrot originated from central Africa. The African Grey, although an intelligent and talkative bird, does not come in a variety of attractive colors. And, as its name implies, is mostly grey with some hint of color. The African Grey can attain a large vocabulary and is said to be able to communicate with its owner.
The Amazon breed is also known for its talking abilities. This parrot originated from South America and is known to be a loving, social and loyal pet. Amazons come in a variety of colors with a mostly pre-dominant green attribute and some may be pre-dominantly yellow. These birds can become proficient singers, are not shy and often perform for strangers. These characteristics make the Amazon a performer at bird shows.
The Macaw is one bird you often find at parrot shows because of its striking colors combined with its ability to do tricks. This bird is found throughout the tropical South America including Ecuador, eastern Peru, Bolivia, norther Paraguay and Brazil. These birds are characterized with a very outgoing and interactive temperament. They are often referred to as the "clowns." When one pictures a parrot, it is the Macaw that comes to mind.
Exotic birds need an exotic environment to be healthy. That is, they need a good owner and a suitable Parrot Cage. Therefore, be certain you are meeting the instinctive needs of your new parrot.
